Regular Show Storyboard Test - Thumbnails by ryanrosendal Regular Show Storyboard Test - Thumbnails by ryanrosendal

It appears you don't have PDF support in this web browser. Download PDF

I few months ago I got the opportunity to take a storyboard revisionist test for Cartoon Network's hit program, "Regular Show." I had a fantastic time putting it together, and I've been told my test made it to the final round of judging. Which is really cool.

For the first part of the test I was give a brief outline for a scene and charged with writing the dialogue and providing the staging.

For a higher quality file you can see the thumbnails at my blog, And Other Nonesuch: [link] or at my Scribd account: [link]

"Regular Show" is, of course, copyright Cartoon Network. If anyone at Cartoon Network or "Regular Show" wishes this to be taken down, please let me know.

This is great, what did you use to draw this?

Thanks! I used traditional Staedtler pencils, ranging from 2B to 6B lead sizes. The test packet showed me that the "Regular Show" artists still board with pencils so that's what I decided to do.

When you applied for the revisionist job, did you see a posting, or did you just apply and they happen to pick you?

I've been trying to get in as a revisionist for over a year, and I haven't gotten a response from anywhere. I was just wondering what your job search process is like.

I got lucky, the "Regular Show" Revisionist position was a public posting, and I saw it mentioned on Sherm Cohen's website [link]

I applied with an email with links to my online portfolio and they sent me a test.

From what I understand, Cartoon Network doesn't usually post job positions publicly like that so I was very lucky. When I took the "Adventure Time" test I was told to not post about it online until after the position was filled.

I'm not sure how helpful that was, but that was what the process was like for me.

It looks professional, sincerely. Did you get hired?

Thanks a lot. No, unfortunately I was not hired, but I was told my test made it to the final round of consideration. Which is nicest rejection I've ever received.
